Title:Al-Sharkia Governor visits San Al-Hajar archaeological area and confirms his pride in the ancient Pharaonic civilization

Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouni, Governor of Al-Sharkia, visited the San El-Hagar archaeological area to learn about its Pharaonic antiquities and to highlight the exceptional value of the archaeological sites there and promote them in a way that contributes to the growth of tourism in the East Delta region and places it on the local and international tourism map in a manner that is consistent with its historical and archaeological importance.

This was in the presence of Major General Abdel Ghaffar El-Deeb, Secretary General of the Governorate, Dr. Rizk Diab Ghadiri, Director General of the East Delta and Canal Antiquities Areas, Ms. Manal Mounir Habib, Director General of Al-Sharkia Antiquities Area, Mr. Omar Hassib, Director of the San El-Hagar Archaeological Area, Mr. Ayman Heikal, Head of San El-Hagar City, Eng. Mohamed El-Awady, Head of Al-Hussainiya Center and City, and Representative Sayed Rahmo, Member of the House of Representatives.

The governor listened to an explanation from Ms. Manal Mounir Habib, Director General of the Sharqia Antiquities Region, about the San El-Hagar Antiquities Region. It was pointed out that the region is one of the four capitals of Egypt that are included in the Sharqia Governorate, as it was the capital of Egypt in the 22nd Dynasty. The ancient name of the region was Ga'ant, meaning the new land, and it was known by the name Tanis in the Greek era.

During the presence of the Arabs, it was known by the name San El-Hagar. It also includes royal tombs that rival in their beauty and the contents of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, such as the tomb of King Psusennes, which the Tanis Hall in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir is rich in its contents, as well as the tomb of King Shoshenq.

Governor of Al-Sharkia inspected the VIP building, which consists of a large hall containing a number of information panels about the history of the site and the treasures and tombs it contains, and a model of the archaeological site.

 A short film was shown about the city of San El-Hagar and its history as the capital of ancient Egypt during the 22nd Dynasty, in addition to inspecting the small exhibition, which includes a number of artifacts from the excavation work at the site, which express the greatness of our ancient ancestors.

Governor of Al-Sharkia was keen to inspect the excavations at the archaeological site, as well as the temple area, which includes the Temple of Amun, and learned about the development work that was done to the place, in addition to visiting the royal tombs, including the tomb of King Shoshenq III, and the tomb of King Psusennes, and learned from Dr. Rizk Diab Ghaderi, Director General of the Eastern Delta and Canal Antiquities Areas, about the history of San El-Hagar and its historical and archaeological importance.
