Title:Al-Sharkia Governor: Medical examination & free treatment for 22,676 elderly citizens

Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, Governor of Al-Sharkia, announced the provision of free medical service to 22,676 elderly citizens in various centers and cities of the governorate, in implementation of the initiative of "A Decent Life" launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, through 29 medical centers distributed to all health departments in the governorate, in order to provide a distinguished medical service and offer the necessary treatment for free to the citizens who are over 65 years old.

Dr. Hisham Masoud, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health in Al-Sharkia, explained that the presidential initiative to provide health care services for the elderly over 65 years was launched since last October in where the necessary analyzes and examinations were conducted for 22,676 elderly citizens, the necessary treatment was given for free and the cases that need surgery were transferred to hospitals which are affiliated to the Directorate of Health Affairs to receive the necessary medical care.

The Undersecretary of Ministry of Health added that the medical services that are provided to the elderly included the detection of the diseases of (pressure - diabetes - heart diseases - renal impairment - digestive diseases - malnutrition diseases such as anemia and obesity) and conducting psychological and nutritional assessment through a general clinical examination, calculating BMI, mass, vision, mouth and teeth examination, in addition to hemoglobin, cholesterol (blood fat) tests, kidney function and cumulative sugar, as well as an electrocardiogram, in addition to providing the necessary health education and psychological support services for the elderly.
