Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Al Sharkia, confirmed that the governorate is serious about implementing the assignments and directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to advance the health sector and alleviate the suffering of patients and provide them with a distinguished health and treatment service... This came during his inspection visit to follow up on the regularity of work at Abu Hammad Central Hospital and to monitor the level of health services.
The governor began his inspection tour by following up on the progress of work in the reception and emergency department of the hospital, which includes 10 beds to provide examination and diagnosis services, then transfer to the appropriate department within the hospital to complete the treatment stage. The governor reassured the health status of a number of patients in the department and asked them about the level of service provided to them, stressing that the health of the citizen is a priority on the executive work agenda and we strive to reach a safe and healthy society that participates in building and developing the nation.
The governor was keen to inspect the pharmacy in the reception and emergency department and asked the pharmacists about the availability of medicines and serums, stressing the need to ensure that they are stored in a safe manner, with periodic review of the expiration dates written on them. He was assured by the hospital director of the availability of medicines and medical supplies in sufficient quantities and their dispensing to patients and providing them with appropriate medical services.
The governor also inspected the intensive care unit, which includes 10 beds, and the kidney dialysis unit, which includes 13 kidney dialysis machines visited by 54 patients with 715 sessions per month. He reviewed the medical records of the cases, stressing to the hospital administration director the need to continue to carry out maintenance work on the devices used regularly to preserve the lives of patients, wishing them a speedy recovery and return to their homes in peace.
The tour included an inspection of the medical laboratories department, which includes the latest technological means and medical devices to apply the highest levels of quality and accuracy according to the latest medical standards followed in advanced hospitals. He learned about the nature of the work using the barcode sample identification system, which includes examining the largest number of samples in the shortest time with a low error rate.
El-Ashmouny also inspected the premature infants unit, which includes 18 incubators that receive all cases of children weighing 500 grams who are not fully developed, to provide them with all aspects of medical and therapeutic care until they reach their normal weight and growth and return to their families safely.
On the sidelines of the visit, Al Sharkia governor held a meeting with Dr. Anwar Ismail, Assistant Minister of Health for National Projects Affairs, in the presence of the governor's deputies and members of parliament, to review and discuss all the problems facing the health system in Al Sharkia, including providing alternative plots of land to establish new hospitals in Abu Hammad and Zagazig centers with a capacity of 300 beds according to the Egyptian code and hospital design standards, in order to improve the health and treatment services provided to patients.
During the meeting, the Assistant Minister of Health for National Projects Affairs announced that in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to care for the health of citizens and provide medical and therapeutic services that are worthy of the Egyptian citizen, and the instructions of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Faqous Central Hospital will be provided with a cardiac catheterization device worth 60 million pounds in order to raise the level of health and therapeutic services provided to the people of North Sharkia centers.
The governor confirmed that the governorate pays attention to developing the health sector and seeks to provide the necessary financial appropriations to provide hospitals and service development outlets with all modern medical devices to provide health and therapeutic services to patients, pointing out the importance of preserving all medical devices in hospitals and medical service outlets and carrying out the necessary maintenance on them periodically to ensure their continuity in providing service to patients and visitors.
For his part, Dr. Hani Jamea, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, explained that Abu Hammad Central Hospital is built on an area of 1,500 m2 out of a total area of 5,000 m2 and includes a 5-storey emergency building and a 3-storey operations building. It provides reception and emergency services with a capacity of 15 beds, a 13-bed kidney dialysis department, a 4-bed endoscopy department, a 6-bed operations and recovery department, a 10-bed intensive care department, 18 nurseries, 10-bed surgery, 6-bed burns, 14-bed orthopedics, 10-bed obstetrics and gynecology, 18-bed pediatrics, and 6-bed internal medicine, in addition to laboratories, radiology, blood bank, and dental labs. The hospital includes 148 beds and 18 outpatient clinics in all medical specialties, including an endoscopy and digestive system unit, a CT and regular scan department, ultrasound, echo, Doppler, ECG, ultrasound, gastroscopy, surgery, and orthopedics department, and is equipped with a blood bank. The complex includes a medical center, pharmacies for dispensing medication, a physiotherapy department, 18 nurseries, and 13 kidney dialysis machines.
