News Date:August 19,2024

Eng. Hazem El Ashmouni, Governor of Al-Sharkia, announced the update of the general strategic plan for the city of Zagazig with a total area of 5001.51 acres and a population density of 168 people/acre for the target year 2032, which includes increasing the height restriction permitted by the Armed Forces Operations Authority from (27/30/33) to become 36 meters throughout the approved urban area.

This came after the approval of the strategic plan by decision of His Excellency the Minister of Housing No. 414 of 2024 AD on 5/9/2024 AD and published in issue No. 152 on 7/16/2024 AD, within the framework of the policies of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities represented by the General Authority for Urban Planning in updating the general strategic plans for the cities of the governorates.

Governor of Al-Sharkia explained that the general strategic plan for the city of Zagazig outlines the features of expanding the urban space and including multiple areas that were previously deprived of facilities and services, and includes expanding an area of more than 690 acres as services for the city, with the aim of limiting construction on agricultural land and accommodating the largest possible number of buildings and adjusting the conditions of its residents.

For her part, Eng. Sally Hussein, Director of the General Administration of Planning and Urban Development, added that adopting the strategic plan allows citizens to easily obtain building permits in light of the Unified Building Law 119 of 2008 and the amendments made to the building regulations in cities without referring to the competent administrative authorities, including the unit with a special character at the Faculty of Engineering at Zagazig University, to facilitate the procedures for obtaining licenses and shorten the number of steps from 15 steps to only 8 steps, noting that the urban fabric in the city differs from the village in terms of identifying residential and industrial areas and road networks, in addition to identifying priority projects in the investment and service sectors, in addition to infrastructure projects, in order to provide the best services to citizens.
