Al-Sharkia Governor Engineer Hazem Al-Ashmouni inspected the rice straw collection site in the village of Al-Jawsaq, Belbeis Center. The visit aimed to monitor the collection process at sites distributed across the governorate's centers and cities, as part of the plan to combat air pollution episodes known as the "Black Cloud." He was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Moati; Engineer Emad Janjan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sharqia; Engineer Wafaa Abdel-Shafi, Director General of the Regional Branch of the Environmental Affairs Agency for Sharqia and Ismailia; and Mr. Ashraf Amer, Head of Belbeis Center and City.
The Governor was briefed by Engineer Emad Janjan on the mechanisms for collecting rice straw—ranging from receipt from farmers to the baling stage using machinery and tractors. The Undersecretary explained that the Al-Jawsaq site spans two feddans and operates under a cooperation protocol between the Ministries of Local Development, Environment, and Agriculture for the 2026 season.
