News Date:October 3,2026

Al-Sharkia Governor Engineer Hazem Al-Ashmouni inaugurated Almuealimin Hospital in the Qawmiya district of Zagazig City today. The project, completed at a total cost of EGP 160 million, marks a fresh start following years of delays and operational suspension; the hospital is now set to begin actual operations and provide medical and therapeutic services to citizens, serving as a valuable addition to the governorate's healthcare system.

The Governor and his accompanying delegation toured the hospital's various departments and received a detailed briefing from Mr. Mohsen Lotfy, Head of Al-Sharqia Teachers' Syndicate, regarding the facility's layout, capabilities, and medical specialties. Built on an area of approximately 6,000 square meters, the hospital comprises a basement, a ground floor, and five upper floors, with a total built-up area of about 10,500 square meters. It features outpatient clinics across various medical specialties, five major operating theaters, 120 general beds, 12 intensive care beds, and eight neonatal incubators. Additionally, the facility houses laboratories, a blood bank, and a radiology department equipped with mammography and ultrasound machines, as well as an emergency department comprising five beds, four isolation rooms, and an ambulance.

The head of Al-Sharqia branch of the syndicate added that the hospital comprises specialized departments and units—including hemodialysis, radiology, endoscopy, diagnostic laboratories, physical therapy, neonatal incubators, and obstetrics and gynecology—thereby supporting the delivery of a comprehensive package of medical and therapeutic services. He emphasized that these services are available to residents of Sharqia and neighboring governorates, alongside discounted healthcare services for teachers and their families, in accordance with the agreement between the syndicate and the operating company.

The Governor inspected the reception and emergency, hemodialysis, radiology, endoscopy, laboratory, physical therapy, neonatal, and obstetrics and gynecology departments, commending the standard of equipment and medical capabilities available at the hospital.

Governor of Sharqia took the opportunity to meet with patients and visitors, listening to their views and feedback regarding the quality of medical services and their level of satisfaction. He underscored the importance of continued field monitoring, a focus on service quality, and ensuring citizens are well-received.

The Governor affirmed that the opening and operation of almuealimin Hospital represents a valuable addition to the governorate's healthcare system. It contributes to expanding medical service capacity and providing comprehensive care and specialized treatments for patients. He praised the efforts of the Teachers' Syndicate and its Sharqia branch in completing, equipping, and launching this medical facility, thereby supporting initiatives to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens. The Governor of Sharqia commended the role of the Ministry of Health and Population, civil society organizations, and all participating entities in supporting and upgrading healthcare facilities and providing necessary medical equipment and supplies. He emphasized that enhancing the efficiency of these facilities and equipping them with modern medical technology directly improves the quality of therapeutic services and healthcare provided to citizens.

The Governor concluded his visit by reaffirming Sharqia Governorate’s ongoing efforts—in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population and all relevant stakeholders—to support and develop the health sector and elevate the standard of medical and therapeutic services for the governorate's residents. These efforts align with the political leadership's directives to improve healthcare quality and ensure a decent standard of living for citizens.
