Engineer Hazem El-Ashmouni, Governor of Al-Sharkia, inaugurated the fishing season at Al-Abassa Fish Farm, located on 200 acres in Abu Hammad City. This initiative aligns with the state's efforts to support and develop the fisheries sector and maximize the utilization of natural resources.

The Governor made a tour in the farm in the early hours of the morning to monitor the ongoing fishing operations within the production system. He received a detailed explanation from Mr. Hani Khamis, Director of Al-Doaa Fish Production Company, regarding the fishing and sorting processes. He also inspected the fish being produced and its variety, praising the workers' efforts and discipline in performing their duties.

The Governor explained that Al-Sharkia Governorate is a leading governorate in fish production, boasting advanced fish farms that contribute in providing large quantities of high-quality fish at affordable prices for citizens. He noted that the Al-Abassa farm includes 29 fish ponds of different sizes, producing different types of fish such as mullet, tilapia and carp.

The Governor explained that the fish farm is subject to regular and continuous monitoring by specialized committees from the Directorates of Health and Veterinary Medicine. These committees regularly collect and analyze samples to ensure the fish are safe for human consumption and free from any harmful substances.

The Governor pointed out that the state is giving great attention to develop fisheries, considering it a fundamental pillar for achieving food security. He emphasized the continued efforts to develop fish farms and increase production to meet the needs of the local market and reduce imports. He affirmed the ongoing provision of all necessary support to develop and improve the efficiency of fish farms, thereby contribute in increasing production and maximize economic benefits to meet the needs of the citizens perfectly.
