Prof. Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, visited Al-Sharqia Governorate to inspect the state of the water system. He was received by Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouni, Governor of Sharqia, who warmly welcomed the Minister. Dr. Sweilem and Engineer El-Ashmouni inspected the covering of the Belbeis Drain in the Zagazig district, a 100-meter stretch between kilometer markers 18.200 and 18.300.

The project was completed under the supervision of the Drainage Authority. Dr. Sweilem directed that all necessary measures be taken to maintain the covering and that a proposal be prepared for its utilization in a modern and developmental manner, given its role as an entrance to Belbeis City, he also suggested exploring the possibility of signing a joint protocol between the Ministry and the Governorate in this regard.

Dr. Sweilem emphasized the importance of continuing and completing the dredging of canals and drains throughout Sharqia Governorate before the upcoming peak water demand season. He further directed the Ministry's departments to expedite the removal of dredged material from the banks of canals and drains, in coordination with the Governorate's authorities. Dr. Sweilem and Engineer Al-Ashmouni also inspected the rehabilitation process of the emergency center and equipment belonging to the Mechanical and Electrical Department in Zagazig Center.
