The archaeological site of San El-Hagar in Sharkia Governorate witnessed an influx of tourists from various nationalities, eager to explore the area's rich archaeological treasures. The tour included the Temple of Amun and the VIP building, under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in coordination with the Sharkia Antiquities Zone. Inspectors from the Archaeological Awareness Department welcomed the visitors and provided them with detailed explanations of the history of the archaeological sites and ancient Egyptian civilization. The tour also highlighted Sharqia Governorate's prominent position on the tourism map, showcasing its archaeological and historical wealth, which includes more than 120 archaeological sites.
Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharkia, explained that Sharkia Governorate holds a distinguished position on Egypt's tourism and archaeological map, thanks to its unique historical sites dating back thousands of years, such as the Tell Basta and San El-Hagar archaeological sites, in addition to its heritage villages renowned for their authentic handicrafts, such as papyrus. Pottery, which reflects the ingenuity of the Egyptian people and their rich heritage.
The governor added that these historical and cultural assets make Sharqia one of the most promising governorates for tourism. He pointed out that the governorate, with all its relevant agencies, fully supports the efforts of Sharkia Antiquities Zone in highlighting these assets, raising tourism and archaeological awareness in the governorate, and maintaining its rightful place on Egypt's tourism map.
Ms. Manal Mounir Habib, Director General of Sharkia Antiquities, confirmed that all archaeological sites in Sharqia are undergoing intensive preparations and continuous upgrades to receive foreign delegations, as well as students and citizens, to introduce them to their country's history and ancient civilization.
At the conclusion of the foreign tourist delegation's visit, the delegation praised the warm welcome and the simplified explanation of historical information, which enriched the tourist experience and enhanced their understanding of ancient Egyptian civilization. |
