Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharkia, affirmed that the governorate holds a distinguished position on Egypt's tourism and archaeological map, thanks to its unique historical sites dating back thousands of years, such as the archaeological sites of Tell Basta and San El-Hagar, in addition to its heritage villages renowned for their authentic handicrafts like papyrus and pottery, which reflect the ingenuity of the Egyptian people and their rich heritage.
🔹For her part, Eng. Lobna Abdel Aziz, Deputy Governor, explained that the governorate is giving special attention to the issue of tourism and archaeological awareness to strengthen and consolidate national identity. She praised the efforts exerted by the Tourism Promotion Authority to revive Egyptian identity and enhance national belonging among the new generations.
🔹Dr. Rasha Hassan, Director of the Regional Tourism Promotion Authority in Sharqia, indicated that the Authority has prepared a comprehensive program to develop tourism awareness among the governorate's residents. This program was developed in coordination with the General Administration for Archaeological Awareness at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and in cooperation with the Directorate of Education. It included the implementation of numerous events and activities throughout November, in collaboration and coordination with several entities, with the aim of enhancing the skills of artisans at the "Hands of Egypt" unit and developing tourism and archaeological awareness among students.
As part of the workshop activities, a traditional crafts exhibition was organized and held, with the participation of 25 artisans showcasing a variety of products, including: kilim rugs, accessories and resin crafts, wooden items, concrete products, beaded bags, crochet, macramé, mushroom crafts, and wooden dolls.
Three school trips were organized for students from various schools, and these visits included:
- The archaeological site and Tell Basta Museum
- The Abdul Aziz Radwan Mosque in Zagazig
- The village of Al-Qaramous to see the papyrus fields and the stages of its production
- The village of Kafr Muhammad Jawish to learn about pottery making |
