Late this evening, Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharkia, conducted an inspection tour of Zagazig City to follow up on the ongoing paving, development, and upgrading works on Saad Zaghloul Street, starting from the University Bridge and extending to Orabi Square. The project, which spans 2.5 km and an average width of 14 m, is costing EGP 25 million. The aim is to remove any obstacles facing the company assigned to implement the works, ensuring their rapid completion according to the specified timetable.
Eng. Mohamed Salah, Head of the Projects Sector at the Roads and Transport Directorate, gave the Governor of Sharkia a detailed explanation of the nature of the ongoing work on Saad Zaghloul Street, which is one of the main and important streets in Zagazig City. It was noted that development, maintenance, and upgrading works are underway for the first phase of the street, starting from the Zagazig University Bridge and extending to the University Hospital Bridge, with a length of 1.2 km and an average width of 14 m, by the Roads and Transport Directorate.
The head of the projects sector added that the ongoing work includes breaking and scraping defective asphalt layers and spreading foundation layers to begin paving work, in addition to replacing and renewing sidewalks on both sides, with the construction of more than one ramp at specific distances along the road to facilitate the movement of people with disabilities, as well as relocating lighting poles in line with the road expansion plan, noting that all work is scheduled to be completed by the end of next February. |
