Title: Sharkia Wheat Supply Running Regularly
News Date:July 29, 2025
Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharkia, confirmed the regular operation of the local wheat supply system at all storage sites in the governorate. The system has been regularly collecting and storing wheat from suppliers and farmers since the beginning of the current 2025 wheat supply season. He explained that 66 tons and 640 kilograms of wheat were supplied yesterday, bringing the total amount of wheat supplied to date to 603,417 tons and 651 kilograms of local wheat. For his part, Eng. Emad Mohamed Gengen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, explained that the demonstration fields planted in the various centers and cities of the governorate varied between: - 56 old lands (individual fields). - 7 new lands (individual fields), each with an area of one acre. - Pilot fields in fish farms (15 fishponds with an area of 410 acres). - 8 saline fields (individual fields). In a parallel context, Eng. Abdel Karim Awadallah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply, indicated that storage conditions include receiving grain in metal, cement, and field silos, as well as in cement and asphalt barns and granaries that meet storage requirements. These silos are inspected by the relevant Supply Directorate, as well as committees formed by the relevant authorities to inspect the barns (the relevant Supply Directorate, the Ministry of Supply, the Food Safety Authority, the General Authority for Supply Commodities, and the marketing entities affiliated with the barn). Inspection forms are then sent to the Ministry, approved by the Director of the Directorate, indicating the suitability of the barn for storing local wheat and the storage capacity (tons/wheat) prior to the start of the supply season, for approval by the Higher Committee for Receiving Local Wheat for the 2025 season.
