On Saturday Alsharkia governorate held Egyptian Arab horse Festival in Belbis desert under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Said A. Ossman, the governor of Sharkia. This festival was held for 19 years before the great revolution of 25th of January but it was revived again this year after great efforts exerted to organize this important event that Alsharkia was famous of. The festival was honored to be attended byMajor GeneralSamehKelani, the Security Director, Dr. IsmailBakrthe ambassador ofKosovo, Dr. Abdul AzizAl-Dakhilcultural attachéof Embassy of Saudi Arabiain Cairo, Dr.MagdySelim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism, head of the local tourism sector in the ministry, AshrafHassan, head ofthe Tourism Promotion Authoritythesponsor of the festival, andDr. AbdulHakimEltahawy, the festival secretary and theDean of Institute ofAsian studies.
Our governorate has great number of the Arab horses breeders, therefore we participated in various international champions such as the international race for horses(WHO).
The festival of this year included 6 races:” the Arab horses”,” the speed of the horses”, “ the Hybrid horses”, the horses etiquette”, and “the horses of the carts”. The total of the prizes has been estimated by 100.000 EGP.
