Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouni, Governor of Al-Sharkia, stressed the need to prepare well to receive the holy month of Ramadan through coordination between the Directorates of Supply, Health, Veterinary Medicine, the Consumer Protection Agency, the Chamber of Commerce, the Food Safety Authority, and the heads of centers, cities and neighborhoods, by intensifying supply and inspection campaigns on markets, shops and commercial establishments to control prices and take all legal measures against violators, stressing the need for the availability of necessary and basic goods for citizens at reduced prices in preparation for receiving the holy month.
The governor instructed the heads of centers, cities and neighborhoods, in coordination with the Supply Directorate and the Chamber of Commerce, to expand the establishment of outlets and exhibitions to sell food commodities and the needs of the holy month at prices lower than the market to ease the burden and suffering of the common citizen and to combat the greed of merchants and to control prices, calling for tightening control over the markets and issuing reports on anyone who dares to manipulate prices and exploit citizens. During the meeting, the governor of Sharkia directed the heads of centers, cities and neighborhoods to adhere to the work shift times for cleaning work and oblige shop owners to adhere to the scheduled closing times as well as the spaces allocated to them and not allow them to display their goods or spread them on the street, in addition to preventing street vendors from displaying their goods in front of schools and mosques so as not to hinder the movement of citizens and cause traffic congestion.
The governor also directed the official of the Food Safety Authority, in cooperation with the heads of centers, cities and neighborhoods and directors of supply departments, to follow up on the markets and ensure the availability of goods and food in large quantities, as well as to ensure the validity of food provided to citizens at the tables of Rahman during the holy month of Ramadan.
